Era of Silence License

Here’s everything you need to know to make your own Era of Silence module, digital tool, peripheral, new game based on ours, and anything else! There will be a fair amount of legal speak that you need to read but we try to keep the speech as plain as possible.

Still read on, but in summary:

  • You can make anything you want with Era of Silence’s text (not the art), but you have to credit the original game and Shrike Tabletop.

  • If you design under this license the thing you produce has to be available under this license.

The License

The written content of Era of Silence, including but not limited to text and game mechanics, is offered under a CC BY-SA 4.0 license. This means you are free to distribute the text and to adapt it within the scope of the license, which requires that you give Shrike Tabletop credit and that you share your adaptations under similar terms. Adaptations include, but are not limited to, web tools for character creation or other software tools designed to work with Era of Silence.

If you create an adaptation of Era of Silence, you must credit Era of Silence and the publisher, Shrike Tabletop. However, if the Adapted Material is a literary work (such as an RPG book), then the Adapter’s License need only be applied to the text (not, for instance, illustrations). Additionally, you must include this and the following sentence in your licensing terms: 'This work is based on or includes material from Era of Silence, © Shrike Tabletop, used under CC BY-SA 4.0. The Adapted Material is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.' The CC BY-SA 4.0 license is available at creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/.
